Salt and Light

Was reading a random chapter from the Bible. It was Mathews 5:13-16.

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

14-16 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Here Jesus tells us that we are like Salt and Light. Both are highly essential for our existence. Salt enhances the flavour of the food that we cook and light removes darkness so that we can see. So by us becoming like salt, we are passing on God's flavour to all that we are doing and to everyone we come across. But if we don't have God's flavour in us, then we are just useless. Similarly if we are like the light then we always walk in the right path. When others who are in darkness see this light, they too will follow.
